A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to caution the public against turning Anwuli Amakom Ekubo, widow of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, into an overnight internet subject following her first public appearance.
Anwuli was seen publicly for the first time at her late husband’s Service of Songs, held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Centre along the Lekki–Epe Expressway in Lekki, Lagos.
The ceremony brought together family members, celebrities, and well-wishers to pay their final respects to the beloved actor, who passed away on May 11, 2026, after a private battle with metastatic kidney cancer.
Throughout his illness and indeed his marriage, Ekubo deliberately kept his personal life away from public scrutiny — a boundary that one Facebook user, identified as Omerem, is now urging Nigerians to continue to honour.
In a post that resonated with many online, she wrote:
“Now that people know who Alex Ekubo’s wife is and even know her name, please let’s not turn her into content overnight.
“If Alex chose to keep that part of his life private all this while, there was obviously a reason for it. Not everything needs to be dragged to the public square.
“Respect their privacy, respect his choice and let the woman breathe abeg.”
The post drew significant engagement, with many users expressing agreement.
