It was a deeply emotional atmosphere in Arochukwu, Abia State, as Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo was finally laid to rest, with family members, friends, colleagues, and admirers turning out in large numbers to bid him farewell.
The burial ceremony took place on June 18, 2026, at his family compound, following a funeral service earlier held at the Mary Slessor School Field in Amanagwu Village.
The occasion attracted an overwhelming turnout of mourners and well-wishers who gathered to honour the late actor and pay their last respects.
The final rites also drew several notable figures from the Nigerian entertainment industry. Among those present were Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, Omoni Oboli, Pretty Mike, Sosoberekon, Funnybone, Angela Okorie, Nons Miraj, Venita Akpofure, Tope Olowoniyan, IK Ogbonna, Mike Godson, AY Makun, and Yomi Casual, all of whom came to show support and solidarity with the grieving family.

One of the most striking moments captured during the burial showed the lowering of Alexx Ekubo’s remains into the grave, as mourners watched in silence while he was laid to rest six feet underground.
Another emotionally charged scene showed his widow, Anwuli Amakom, gently pouring sand into the grave in a final act of farewell, a gesture that stirred intense reactions among those present and viewers who later came across the footage online.
