Ghanaian referee who officiated Morocco vs Nigeria match suffers major loss as Nigerians take strong action against him

Ghanaian referee, Daniel Laryea’s Instagram page has been taken down following mass reporting from Nigerians.

Nigeria was denied from progressing to the final on Wednesday, 14th January 2026 after Morocco beat them on penalties.

Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi missed their penalty kicks which consequently led to Super Eagles’ loss.

Some Nigerians who watched the match were of the view that the referee was biased while officiating.

In light of this, after the game, angry netizens quickly stormed the Instagram page of the referee and massively reported it till it got removed from the platform.

A quick survey shows that the Instagram page is no longer accessible on the photo-sharing app, Instagram.

Following the defeat, Nigeria isn’t completely out of the tournament as they’ll battle for the third place position with Egypt on Saturday, 17th January 2026 by 5pm.
