The last social media post of late Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi has stirred emotional reactions from fans following news of his sudden death.
Akiyesi, who had been inactive online since 2025, surprised followers with a Facebook post in February 2026.
The portrait image, which showed only his side view, has now become a focal point of mourning as tributes continue to pour in.
Death Confirmed by AGN
The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, confirmed the actor’s passing on Monday, April 27.
He disclosed that Akiyesi died in his sleep on Sunday, April 26, and his body has been deposited at a morgue in Abuja.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. Slept and did not wake up. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu said.
Career and Background
Born in Ososo, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Akiyesi had his early education in his hometown before attending the University of Ibadan.
He built a career as an actor, producer, and director, featuring in films such as Deadly Affair (1995), Olaedo the Fisher Girl 2 (2015), Gen Z Wife (2024), Kiss My Pain, and Heart of a Saint. He also served on the board of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and was President of the National Association of Ososo Creatives.
Past Controversy
Beyond his professional achievements, Akiyesi was once involved in a widely reported marital controversy.
In April 2013, his wedding to his second wife, Uloma Agwu, was interrupted by his first wife, Lilian, who reportedly appeared at the ceremony in Lagos, claiming they were still legally married. The incident drew significant public attention, prompting the actor to later apologise.
