The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has addressed a viral claim alleging that Nigerian skitmaker Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ijekwu, popularly known as Sabinus, had been declared wanted.
The rumour originated from a widely circulated poster claiming that the comedian was on the EFCC’s wanted list.
However, the commission quickly debunked the report, describing it as false and misleading.
Reacting via its official Twitter account, the EFCC dismissed the claim as an attempt to gain attention, warning individuals against spreading unverified information. The agency wrote:
“Clout chaser, stop this now!”
In a similar response shared on Instagram, the anti-graft body urged the public to be cautious of misinformation, posting:
“Beware of fake news ❌.”
With these statements, the EFCC made it clear that the viral poster was fabricated and that Sabinus is not being sought by the agency.
The clarification has since helped to dispel the speculation surrounding the comedian.
