Ikeja Electric Plc has released a public notice addressing the worsening power supply being experienced by customers within its network.
In the statement, the company explained that the persistent outages are largely due to a nationwide drop in electricity generation.
This decline, it noted, is linked to insufficient gas supply to thermal power plants, which play a major role in powering the national grid.
According to the notice dated March 23, 2026, the shortage of gas has significantly reduced the amount of electricity generated across the country.
As a result, less power is being transmitted through the national grid, directly affecting the allocation distributed to electricity companies, including Ikeja Electric.
The company further stated that the reduced allocation has limited its ability to supply adequate electricity to homes, businesses, and industrial users within its coverage areas.
Acknowledging the growing frustration among customers, Ikeja Electric expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the ongoing situation.
It assured consumers that efforts are being made to manage the limited supply in what it described as an efficient and fair manner across all serviced locations.
The notice comes amid worsening electricity challenges in Nigeria, with many households and businesses reporting prolonged outages, inconsistent power supply, and an increasing dependence on alternative energy sources.
