A Nigerian dietitian who moved to the United Kingdom has been dismissed from her role at a top hospital over concerns about her professional ability.
According to BBC, She had secured a position at Manchester Royal Infirmary, but questions began to arise shortly after she started work.
Senior staff reportedly noticed that her practical skills did not match the level of experience she claimed during recruitment.
An internal assessment was initiated early into her employment, following observations made during supervised sessions.
Colleagues became increasingly concerned as they identified gaps in her understanding of routine clinical duties, leading to closer evaluation of her performance.
Although she had presented herself as qualified and experienced, her handling of basic responsibilities raised red flags. Reports indicated that she struggled with key areas such as anatomy, patient care planning, and interpreting clinical information.
She was also said to have difficulty answering straightforward professional questions.
Due to the seriousness of these deficiencies, she was first placed on suspension and later dismissed in August 2024.
The case was subsequently reviewed by the relevant regulatory authority, which concluded that there had been intentional misrepresentation of her qualifications over time.
This led to her removal from the professional register, effectively barring her from practising.
Hospital authorities clarified that no patients were put at risk during her time on duty, as she was closely monitored once the issues were identified. They also stated that improvements have since been made to hiring procedures to avoid a repeat of such incidents.
