A Nigerian nurse working in Canada has sparked conversations online after sharing a detailed breakdown of her earnings for a two-week period.
The young woman, who disclosed that she is 23 years old, said she works as a registered nurse and recently completed a total of 78.75 hours of work within two weeks.
She shared the information in a video posted on TikTok, where she explained how much she earned and the deductions that were made from her salary.
According to her, she usually works on a part-time basis but ended up completing full-time hours during that particular pay period.
In the video, she explained:
“I worked 78.75 hours in two weeks. I am part-time, but I worked full-time hours this pay period. I have 3 years of experience and I am currently paid at the rate of $44.19 per hour (N45,481.00).”
The nurse, known on TikTok as @lifewitheniola1, further stated that she receives an additional payment for being a part-time worker.
She said:
“I get an extra 10% for being part-time, which brings my pay up to $48.61 (N50,032).”
She also noted that additional earnings come from working certain shifts.
According to her:
“I also get premiums for working weekends as well as evenings.”
Providing a full summary of her income for that pay cycle, she said:
“This pay period, I made $4,080.77 (N4,200,200.02).”
However, the nurse explained that several deductions were taken from the amount.
She added:
“Total deductions including tax, pension plan, my union dues, my CPP and EI is $1,400.60 (N1,441,838.29).”
After all deductions, she revealed her final take-home pay.
She said:
“My take-home pay is $2,606.11 (N2,683,000.74). I have two paychecks in a month; I use one for my bills and the other one for savings, investing, and spending.”
Her video has since attracted attention online, with many viewers discussing salary structures and living costs abroad.
