Renowned Hollywood actor Eric Dane has passed away at the age of 53 following a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological disease.
Dane, best known for his charismatic portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan in Grey’s Anatomy and the troubled patriarch Cal Jacobs in Euphoria, died on Thursday afternoon, 19th February surrounded by his family, including wife Rebecca Gayheart and daughters Billie and Georgia.
The actor’s family released a statement expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support, describing his children as the “center of his world.”
Dane’s career spanned over three decades, with notable roles in Charmed, The Last Ship, Marley & Me, Valentine’s Day, and Burlesque.
His co-stars have paid tribute, praising his spirit, comedic timing, and dedication to his craft.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a devastating condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and breathing difficulties.
Dane had been raising awareness about the disease before his passing.
