Reality TV star Deeone has criticised Afrobeats superstar Davido in a strongly worded video, calling him out over his absence from Soso Soberekon’s wedding and his failure to publicly recognise the occasion.
Speaking in a video shared on Instagram, Deeone voiced his disappointment over what he considered a clear display of ingratitude.
According to him, Soso Soberekon had been active in Nigeria’s entertainment industry long before Davido became a household name and had contributed significantly behind the scenes to the singer’s career and growth.
“If you know who David is, off camera, off social media, na terrible man being terrible,” Deeone said, as he launched into his criticism of the music star.
Deeone highlights Soso’s alleged contributions to Davido
The reality star continued by claiming that Soso Soberekon was the first person to give Davido a cheque worth one million dollars or more.
He maintained that considering the extent of the support Soso had allegedly provided, Davido should at the very least have attended the wedding or ensured that someone from his camp represented him at the ceremony.
“Nobody, none of your boys represent you, none of your family represents you. You could not even send a message. You could not even tweet say happy married life,” he stated
Deeone further pointed to the attendance of other prominent entertainment personalities, mentioning Kcee and Emoney among those who showed up for the celebration.
He also praised the wedding for its grandeur, highlighting the presence of private jets, lavish souvenirs and drinks.
In his assessment, the ceremony even exceeded Davido’s own wedding in terms of its overall scale and sophistication.
“Soso shut down. You know that the wedding dey classy? Private jets everywhere,”
He maintained that people who were unable to attend the occasion in person should at least have ensured that someone from their respective circles was present on their behalf.
Deeone raises questions about Davido’s character
Moving beyond Davido’s absence from the wedding, Deeone expanded his criticism to the singer’s personality and character.
He alleged that while Davido may want the people around him to succeed, he does not want them to become “not more than him.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate also referred to Soso Soberekon as one of Africa’s most influential young personalities.
Deeone concluded his remarks by congratulating the newlyweds, while also taking another swipe at Davido and urging him to at least acknowledge the couple with a congratulatory message.
