An X user identified as @lollypeezle has sparked reactions online after sharing his thoughts following the funeral of late National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain, Toba Ijaya.
The social media user said his attention was drawn to a video showing one of Ijaya’s daughters delivering a tribute during the burial ceremony.
According to him, the young woman spoke fluent English and remained composed while paying her final respects to her father despite the emotional moment.
The observation prompted him to compare her upbringing with that of some youths in Fadeyi and Mushin.
He suggested that while Ijaya’s children appeared to have benefited from a good education and were able to express themselves confidently, he believed some other transport union members in those communities had contributed to long-standing social problems in the area.
The X user also reflected on the differences in opportunities available to children from different backgrounds.
He contrasted those who grow up enjoying privileges, such as watching major sporting events like the World Cup final, with others who are left to fend for themselves through street trading, including selling kulikuli.
He concluded his post by remarking that people’s life circumstances differ greatly, describing it as a matter of destiny.
