An X user from Akwa Ibom State has publicly weighed in after a Nigerian man identified as Tunmise made shocking claims about his girlfriend, popular content creator Ivana.
Tunmise alleged that Ivana was responsible for transmitting an infection to him after she was reportedly unfaithful, claiming that the condition left him needing a significant amount of time to fully recover.
However, another part of his account quickly became the main talking point online. Tunmise alleged that Ivana tried to help him recover by using a long pipe in what appeared to be a traditional healing method.
The claim about the unusual treatment quickly eclipsed the initial allegation, sparking widespread discussion and a range of reactions across social media.
Man speaks about pipe healing process
Royal Tipz, who identified himself as being from Akwa Ibom state, came to the defence of the practice after seeing people make fun of the pipe procedure.
He explained that it was part of a cultural tradition known as Asang Ukebe, adding that people from Akwa Ibom and Cross River would be familiar with it.
According to him, the practice was also used by parents on their children when they were young, and he maintained that it was effective.
His comments resonated with some social media users who said they were familiar with the practice from their childhood.
However, others were not convinced by the explanation, while some continued to make light of the controversy.
