Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has become the subject of online discussion after a video showing her at an event gained widespread attention on social media.
In the viral clip making the rounds on X, the award winning singer was captured turning down requests from fans who followed her after her ministration, asking to take photographs with her.
The video showed Mercy Chinwo explaining that she was heading to another location and appeared pressed for time. Despite her explanation, the fans continued requesting photos as she walked away.
The clip has since generated mixed reactions across social media, with many users drawing comparisons to previous encounters involving the gospel singer as well as other well known public figures.
On one occasion, a female fan shared her experience with veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, revealing that the actress firmly instructed her not to record her after she approached with a camera.
Although she described Omotola as “very strict,” she added that the actress was still pleasant throughout the encounter.
Omotola also attracted attention during a Miss Nigeria dinner after an interviewer requested that she introduce herself.
Seemingly displeased by the question, the actress ended the interview, walked away, and cautioned the interviewer not to touch her when he attempted to stop her.
In another similar incident, Facebook content creator MC Mbakara voiced his disappointment following an encounter with actor Jim Iyke inside an elevator.
According to Mbakara, the Nollywood actor only shook his hand before leaving, prompting him to wonder why the actor could not at least offer a smile.
