The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has responded to several narratives directed at its General Overseer, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, regarding the worsening insecurity situation in Nigeria.
In a statement shared on its social media platforms on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the church condemned what it described as false narratives circulating online about Adeboye. RCCG said the claims were a misrepresentation of the pastor and were driven by agenda-setting motives.
The church also dismissed allegations that Pastor E.A. Adeboye campaigned for the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu, which has faced increasing criticism over various national issues.
Its statement read: “Pastor Adeboye has always encouraged members of the church to get their PVCs and vote for anyone of their choice; he has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties as members of the church are members of various political parties,”
RCCG further refuted claims that the Christian leader called off a planned protest concerning the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.
Clarifying the situation, the church stated: “Pastor Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the three-day prayer programme in a centralised venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria,”
Furthermore, the church rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye has deliberately remained silent on the country’s growing challenges, maintaining that the narratives being circulated online do not accurately reflect his position or actions.
“He has on several occasions spoken about national issues such as insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance and the need for righteous leadership. However, he often chooses the language of moral guidance, prayer and counsel rather than partisan political confrontation.”
