Controversial social media commentator Honour Oriretan has stirred reactions online after criticising comedian and content creator Mark Angel over his recent wedding, which has continued to trend across social media.
In a Facebook post shared hours after videos and photos from the ceremony went viral, Oriretan questioned the timing of the wedding, arguing that it was inappropriate given the challenges facing the country.
According to him, proceeding with the celebration while reports of kidnapped children and teachers in Oyo State remained a concern reflected a lack of empathy and solidarity with those affected.
The commentator also claimed that some of the victims could be fans of the comedian and suggested that postponing the wedding would have been a more considerate decision.
He further attracted attention by making remarks about the reported age difference between Mark Angel and his bride.
Oriretan went on to issue what he described as a “judgement,” urging the comedian to apologise and declare the wedding invalid within 48 hours.
He argued that a fresh ceremony should be held after the safe release of the abducted victims.
His comments have since generated widespread discussion online, with social media users expressing mixed opinions on whether his criticism of the comedian was justified.
In his words:
“Mark Angel marrying at this time the country is bl££ding is unw!se. A proof of “I don’t care” attitude, lack of empathy. Those k!ds,teachers k!dnapped in Oyo state are probably his fans but thinking marrying now is the best way to show them supp0rts is more unw!se
~~Most unw!se marrying a girl probably in her early 20s instead of frm his age. THIS SURE A MISPLACED PRIORITY”
“~MY JUDGEMENT: Mark Angel has 48hrs to apologize, declare this wedding invalid to show solidarity with those k!ds,teachers suff£ring in the bush& redo fresh wedding after their release. Act fast..Y’all be wise..Dont be unw!se.”
