The Convener of New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), Pastor Jerry Eze, has finally spoken on the recent kidnapping incident in Oyo State that led to the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the Orire Local Government Area.
On May 16, 2026, suspected terrorists attacked several communities across Orire Local Government Area and abducted 39 students and seven teachers.
The disturbing incident sparked outrage on social media, with many individuals, including celebrities, calling on the government to expedite efforts to secure the release of the victims.
Addressing the issue during a recent sermon, Pastor Jerry expressed deep concern over the abduction of the children and teachers in Oyo State.
He said he could personally relate to the situation because he is also a parent and could not imagine his own children going through what the abducted students are currently experiencing.
He said: “I’ve two children, I don’t know how I will feel especially when we saw that little boy carried by the teacher. They are somewhere in the forest that we don’t know. I don’t know what they are eating, I don’t know what they are having. Nobody can take care of your child better than you.”
Furthermore, he raised concerns about the conditions the victims may be facing in captivity, particularly the possibility of lacking adequate food and care. He also expressed worry about the emotional and psychological impact the ordeal could have on the children, even after they regain their freedom.
He added: “I am even more worried about if they come out, the trauma that would hit these children. How traumatized they would be and I am sincerely praying that God will help this children…
When I think about these children, my heart literally melts.”
After sharing his thoughts on the matter, Pastor Jerry led a special prayer session dedicated to the victims who remain in captivity. He invited two children to the altar and allowed them to pray before the congregation concerning the Oyo State kidnapping.
