Nigerian rapper, Olanrewaju Ogunmefun popularly known as Vector has shared an emotional tribute to late music star, Sound Sultan during the ongoing Ramadan season.
The lyrics master took to his official X account on Monday, March 9, 2026, to remember the late singer.
In the post, he reflected on Sound Sultan’s personality and the way he peacefully related with people from different backgrounds.
According to the rapper, the late musician’s Islamic faith often came to mind mostly during Ramadan, noting that he lived harmoniously with everyone around him.
Vector also shared a screenshot of an old conversation he once had with the singer.
In his message, he wrote:
“He was one Muslim you never remember was Muslim until it’s Ramadan… he blended in peacefully with everyone he came across.
The season of Ramadan brought him to memory… May all our prayers for good be met with answers for good.”

Sound Sultan, widely respected for his impact on Nigerian music and culture, battled a rare form of cancer known as Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. In May 2021, reports revealed that he was receiving chemotherapy treatment in the United States.
The singer eventually passed away on July 11, 2021, at the age of 44 after months of fighting the illness.
Following Vector’s tribute, some social media users reacted critically to his statement about the late artist’s religious identity, arguing that Sound Sultan remained openly Muslim both during Ramadan and throughout the rest of the year.
Others, however, interpreted the post as a respectful remembrance of the late musician’s peaceful nature and legacy.
