A renowned socialite, Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as “Agali,” has been shot dead in Lagos, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that it has launched a high-priority investigation into the killing, which has sparked widespread concern both offline and on social media.
According to reports, the incident occurred late on Saturday night, April 11, along the National Stadium Bridge in the Surulere area.
The attack reportedly happened around 11:30 pm while the victim was travelling inward toward Iponri.
Details about the assailants and their motive remain unclear, but the daring nature of the attack on a busy roadway has raised fresh security concerns, especially regarding nighttime movement in the area.
Following the shooting, passersby and emergency responders rushed Adeyinkan to Mainland General Hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
In an official statement, the police confirmed the incident, saying:
“The Command is aware of the shooting incident involving Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as ‘Agali’. The victim was rushed to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead.”
Authorities noted that no suspects have been identified so far, and it is yet to be determined whether the killing was a targeted attack or a robbery gone wrong.
The police added that investigations are ongoing to “ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident” and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
