Bright Edafe, the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, has reacted strongly to viral videos allegedly linked to a disturbing incident described online as a “raping festival” in Ozoro community.
Taking to X, Edafe condemned the development, describing it as “alarming, disgusting and embarrassing.”
He revealed that the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, has immediately ordered a full-scale investigation into the matter.
According to the police spokesperson, the command does not support or tolerate such acts under any circumstance.
He stressed that no cultural practice or traditional belief should override the fundamental rights and dignity of citizens.
Edafe further assured the public that the police are taking the issue seriously and are committed to ensuring justice is served.
He added that those found responsible for the act would be identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Commissioner of Police also appealed to residents of Delta State to remain calm while the investigation is ongoing.
He emphasized that security agencies are working diligently to uncover the facts surrounding the incident.
In addition, the police command called on members of the public who may have relevant information or evidence to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Authorities believe that credible tips from witnesses could play a crucial role in speeding up the process and ensuring that those involved are held accountable.
