A Facebook user identified as Kalu Victor has triggered mixed comments online after sharing his opinion on the trending movie, ‘Monica’ produced by actress, Uche Montana.
In his post, Victor expressed disappointment after watching the film, which has generated buzz among viewers.
According to him, he found it difficult to understand why many people became emotional while watching it, describing the movie as overrated.
He rated the film 4.5 out of 10, stating that although effort was evident, it failed to leave a meaningful impact on him.
He also criticised what he described as a tendency among Nigerians to praise content excessively, even when it lacks substance.
Victor went further to compare ‘Monica’ with another Nollywood production, ‘Heaven Must Wait’, which he said delivered a stronger message.
He noted that the latter left him feeling calmer and more reflective, particularly with its emphasis on prioritising health and well-being.
While acknowledging that viewers are entitled to their opinions, he maintained that ‘Monica’ did not meet his expectations, describing it as lacking key elements of a compelling and impactful film.
He concluded by rating ‘Heaven Must Wait’ higher, giving it 7.5 out of 10.
His post have since drawn mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with his critique while others kick against his position.

“I decided to watch the overhyped Monica movie and indeed I’m yet to understand why people cried while watching such movie ?
I rate it 4.5/10 due to the effort but it impacted nothing, but here in Nigeria we applaud everything 😒💔 we see everbring as creative even when a movie is displaying nothing.
Watching Heaven must wait I felt consoled and calmer, a movie telling you that health is all you need, while praying for money and good opportunities, prioritize your health and pray nothing cuts it short💜✍️ my prayer for all here.
The Monica lacked everything a creative movie should have, it’s your choice to cry over the movie but to me it’s a waste of data watching such timid and no awareness creating movie.
Heaven must wait will have a 7.5/10 from me while Monica will have 4.5/10
