Social media has been buzzing with mixed reactions after the wedding of Aboy, the autistic adopted son of Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM).
In response to the growing debate, the cleric opened up about the unknown story behind how Aboy became part of his family.
The marriage quickly went viral online, sparking intense conversations. While many people celebrated the union, others raised concerns about specific aspects, resulting in differing opinions across various platforms.
Reports also indicated that the bride received cash rewards and other enticing gifts for agreeing to marry the autistic man.
During an interview with popular content creator Lucky Udu, Apostle Chibuzor shared details of Aboy’s background and how he came into his care.
He said:
“He was abandoned by my gate. A lot of children have been abandoned by my gate. So when he was abandoned, I invited the police and the police took him to a motherless baby home where they rejected him, so I have to accept him back.
“He’s non-verbal. He can’t speak or understand anything. He can’t take his bath. Someone had to take his bath for him. I had no choice than to start taking care of him.”
When asked about the number of children under his care, he revealed that he has adopted as many as 500.
He further explained that the resources used in supporting them come from church contributions.
His words:
“From tithe and offering people contribute from church.”
