A recent exchange between Dolapo Lawal and Harrison Ayintete has sparked conversations online after the latter criticised a sermon perceived as promoting women’s leadership over men.
The discussion began after Apostle Ayintete reposted a video of Pastor Lawal delivering a message interpreted by some as “pro-women,” suggesting a shift in traditional roles within the home.
In his response, Ayintete urged the pastor to revisit the teaching, arguing that it could misrepresent biblical authority and encourage what he described as “toxic feminism.”
While acknowledging Pastor Lawal’s influence and contributions, Ayintete maintained that scriptural teachings clearly establish the structure of leadership in the home, emphasising that men are designated as heads, while women are called to submit within marriage.
However, in a surprising turn, Pastor Lawal responded directly in the comment section, adopting a reflective tone. He admitted that his earlier message may have been misunderstood or overstated.
“This was definitely Speculative and a stretch. I don’t even know what I was trying to say sef. Thanks Rev. I take the correction,” he wrote.
Reacting to the response, Apostle Ayintete praised the pastor’s humility, describing it as rare.
“This is the most humble response I have ever seen. Do you mean this response MoG or you just Dey whyne me 🙏,” he replied.
Pastor Lawal further revealed that he had already taken steps to address the situation, including removing the original video.
“Lol. I already took down the main video on YouTube. I’ll repreach it with more caution sir,” he added.
Impressed by his response, Ayintete concluded the exchange with commendation, saying, “wow!! So honourable!! I honour you sir.”
The interaction has since drawn attention online, with many praising Pastor Dolapo’s admission to being wrong.
