In a viral video, the Head Pastor of the Family Worship Centre in Abuja, Sarah Omakwu, was seen going down on her knees to humbly appeal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, not to convert the Jabi Recreational Lake from a public space into private ownership.
She acknowledged that she has limited power to challenge the Minister, which is why she chose to plead with him over the issue.
Pastor Sarah Omakwu also pointed out that Jabi Lake has long served as a major recreational centre for residents of Abuja.
She said:
“The Jabi Lake Recreational Centre should not be given to anybody. That is where people go for exercises, that is where people sell, that is where people meet and get married.
That is where people go to watch games, that is where young people go to. I beg you Mr Minister in the name of God as a mother, do not sell that land to anybody.”
In conclusion, Omakwu acknowledged the infrastructural development in Abuja under Minister Wike.
She thanked the FCT Minister for the highways built which she claimed has aided her in commuting her home with ease.
However, she maintained her position that the Jabi Lake should not be sold to any private individual by the former Rivers State Governor.
