Mexican musician Jonathan Meléndez, a keyboardist with the popular band Camilo Séptimo, has reportedly been killed alongside his pregnant wife, their three-year-old daughter and the family’s nanny in a devastating attack at their home near Mexico City.
The four victims were found by authorities in the Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapán de Zaragoza on Tuesday, September 1. A six-year-old boy who was also present at the property was found unharmed.
Police Discover Four Bodies at Home
The State of Mexico Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the identities of those killed, describing Meléndez as a 38-year-old music producer and composer.
His wife was 35, while the family’s nanny was identified as a 21-year-old woman.
Investigators said two of the victims were discovered bound. Three victims, including the couple’s young daughter, suffered gunshot wounds to the head, while the fourth person was shot in the back.
Authorities believe the killings occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:40 p.m. on the same day.

Billboard identified the deceased musician as Jonathan Meléndez, while his band, Camilo Séptimo, confirmed his death through an Instagram statement.
The group paid tribute to the musician, remembering his contribution, personality and the memories shared with those around him.
“We will always remember Honas with immense love and gratitude. Today we honor and celebrate his life, his music, his light and the time shared with those of us fortunate enough to know him and walk the path alongside him.”

Two Suspects Arrested
Mexican authorities have arrested two men in connection with the killings. They were identified as Diego Sebastián “N” and Gerardo “N.”
Although investigators have yet to disclose a motive, the prosecutor’s office said one of the suspects was allegedly acquainted with Meléndez.
Authorities believe the suspects may have used their relationship with the musician to gain access to the property before the attack.
Mexico’s Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, confirmed that the arrests were made shortly after the incident.
“Given the gravity of the crime, the institutions acted immediately and in a coordinated manner. The two suspects are now in custody and will be brought to justice,” he wrote in a statement on Facebook.
