Pastor Dr Great Olalekan Martins, a former cleric at Deeper Life Church, has opened up about his exit from the church founded and overseen by Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi.
In a Facebook post, Great, who now runs Word and Life Christian Ministries, stated that more than two Deeper Life Church overseers had greatly wronged him.
The pastor shed light on how some overseers did evil against him, and added that all attempts to bring the issue to Kumuyi’s notice were unsuccessful, accusing the overseers and a poor communication medium of the church of frustrating his efforts.
While exposing his ordeal in Deeper Life Church, Kabba region, the cleric mentioned that his salary was N25k monthly with no additional remuneration.
His statement read:

Couple of weeks back I made the post above. The post attracted a lot of comments. Some out of religious sentiment called me several bad names. Some called me demon. Well, I’m not bothered with that because Jesus Christ Himself was accused of being demon possessed (Matt. 9:34; 12:24).
Some out of zeal void of knowledge threatened me with phrase like; “judgment of God” “he’s serving the devil” etc.
However, there were people who asked me a sincere question, “Why do you generalize the Overseers?”
So, I promised that I will respond and answer the question.
Someone said that I should not because one or two Deeper Life Overseers have offended and done me evil, and now blame it on all the Overseers.
The truth be told, more than two Overseers did evil directly to me beyond my imaginations. It all started with one, pst. Raphael Irewole of Deeper Life Bible Church, Kabba region. He fraudulently deducted my salary against pastor Kumuyi instruction. My salary was just twenty-five thousand naira (N25,000) with no other renumeration attached to it while his own salary from Lagos is around three hundred thousand naira (N300,000), with other renumerations like health allowance, children school fees allowance, transportation allowance. Yet pst. Raphael Irewole out of greediness and wickedness was deducted out of my small salary in the name of GS when pastor Kumuyi has ordered that such deduction should stop.
Again, the Church bookshop I was managing got burgled over night to which I have reasons to believe that pst. Raphael Irewole has hand in the burglary. He did not allow us to report the case to the police for proper investigation, yet he went behind telling people that he forgave me.
The case got to the State Overseer pst. Jacob Adefila who happens to be an uncle to pst. Irewole because they are both from Ìgbómìnà side of Kwara state. I told state Overseer how pst. Irewole in open disobedience to GS order from Lagos was fraudulently deducting my salary, and how he hid a brother’s marital file who is my wife cousin, to take revenge on the brother’s parent. Rather than the state Overseer to ask pst. Irewole to right the wrongs, they both arranged for my demotion as a pastor in the Church. I have the audio record of all my meetings with both SO, RO and other leaders in the Church.
When the case was going no where positive and godly with the state Overseer, I wrote a ten pages letter to the state Overseer appealing that my case and my letters be taken to GS table in Lagos. When they knew that it is dangerous for them if GS got the wind of the evils they have been doing, they refused to forward my case to Lagos, rather they came back and lied to the whole regional workers that GS asked them to put me under discipline for preaching the gospel online. This false announcement was written by the state Overseer pst. Jacob Adefila, and given to two other region Overseers to read to all the workers in my region. Now, about four Overseers are involved in my case alone:
Pst. Jacob Adefila (state Overseer for Kogi State)
Pst. Raphael Irewole (Kabba region Overseer)
Pst. Rufus Akinola (Ijumu region Overseer) and another region Overseer from Okehi region which I have forgotten his name.
Now, you may want to know how I knew the announcement was false. One, ask yourself this, will pastor Kumuyi that you know for holiness and righteousness, leave an Overseer who disobeyed his order, fraudulently cheat someone under him, hid someone’s marital file undisciplined and order someone on whom no sin is proven to be disciplined? Capital NO.
Two, someone from the state headquarters church office called me on phone to inform me that GS never ordered my discipline, it was an arrangement btw the state Overseer and his godson Irewole to silent me in the Church and cover up their falsehood. I recorded the call, and I have it as evidence.
I’m saying all this to establish the fact that some Overseer indeed wronged me and also sinned against God. But this was not enough for me to generalize it.
In a bid to report this to the headquarters Church in Lagos, I went to the Church website to see if I could get a means of sending my complaint to Lagos. I was surprised to see that the phone number on Deeper Christian Life Ministry website is inactive (+2348158191111).
I asked myself, how could Deeper Life of all Churches, known globally for holiness, upload an inactive or dead phone number on its website? Of course, this is not done by GS, but someone that is put in charge of it. This is a website that is daily visited and worked on for update and up to date information.
When the phone number wasn’t going through, I saw an email address there too. I wrote a SOS complaint letter to the email address, but it was never acknowledged nor responded to. It means both phone number and the email address on Deeper Life website are fake!
This looks like a system rather than a mistake. It would have been better if there’s no contact us details than putting dead links and address. Someone or a group people must have done this, and I believe was done without GS knowing about it. If we don’t want people to reach out to us, no problem, but why do we write “contact us”, and the medium provided is continuously inactive?
