It was a heartbreaking moment on Saturday as Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner, Phyna, laid her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, to rest in Ogun State.
Ruth, 24, died on August 31, 2025, following complications from a tragic road accident that occurred two weeks earlier.
On August 13, just six days after her graduation from Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, she was hit by a truck belonging to the Dangote Group near the school premises.
The crash left her with life-threatening injuries, including the amputation of one leg, severe damage to the other, as well as head and hand trauma.
Despite medical interventions and arrangements for treatment abroad, she passed away at 6:30 a.m. on August 31, according to the family’s legal representatives.
Her remains were taken from Ebony Mortuary, Ikoyi, to her residence in Ikorodu, Ogun State, where she was laid to rest.
Emotional videos from the burial ceremony showed Phyna in tears, surrounded by family, friends, and fellow ex-BBNaija housemates, including Christy O and Groovy, who came to support her.
The Dangote Group had earlier expressed sorrow over the tragic incident, stating that it covered Ruth’s medical expenses, provided support to the family, and facilitated treatment plans abroad.
