The management team of Nigerian singer Simi has dismissed rumours suggesting that her marriage to fellow artiste Adekunle Gold is on the verge of collapse.
Responding to the speculation, Simi’s manager, Vincent, refuted claims that a divorce petition had been filed by Adekunle Gold. He described the widely circulated document as entirely false and deliberately fabricated.
The document, which carried the date February 28, 2026, alleged that the couple’s union had “irretrievably broken down.”
It further accused one party of sustained emotional, financial, and professional control, while requesting the dissolution of the marriage and shared custody of their child.
Reports online also claimed that the supposed petition had been submitted to the High Court of Lagos State, fueling further discussion on social media.
However, Vincent while speaking to Vanguard, highlighted several inconsistencies in the document. He noted that stage names were used in the filing, explaining that such names are not legally acceptable in formal court proceedings anywhere in the world.
He also pointed out that the suit number referenced in the document was dated 2024, a discrepancy he said undermines its credibility.
According to him, these clear technical flaws confirm that the paperwork did not originate from any legitimate legal process.
The clarification followed days of intense online debate among fans, which reportedly gained momentum after old social media posts attributed to Simi resurfaced and were interpreted by some as a trigger of her marital crash.
As of now, neither Simi nor Adekunle Gold has made a personal statement regarding the rumours.
