Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has finally opened on what actually killed his colleague, Allwell Ademola while addressing long-standing rumours linking them romantically.
Reports previously noted that Ademola passed away under controversial circumstances in December 2025.
Speaking in a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about the speculation that once circulated widely within the Yoruba film industry.
He shared details about their relationship and how both of them reacted to the gossip at the time. According to Salami, he largely ignored the rumours despite how much attention they attracted.
Reflecting on a past discussion with the late actress, Salami disclosed that Ademola had once contacted him regarding the claims connecting them.
He explained that she asked whether he had heard about the rumours and if he was bothered by public perception.
“I told her I did not hear about it… and I truly do not listen to people,” he said.
Salami further emphasized that he never felt pressured by public opinion, maintaining that such narratives did not influence his personal life.
However, he made it clear that his marriage remains his primary commitment.
While he described his relationship with Ademola as strictly professional and friendly, he noted that he would have created distance if his wife had expressed any concerns.
“If my wife says she was not comfortable with our relationship, I would withdraw. Because she is the only person I am answerable to,” he stated.
Beyond addressing the rumours, Salami also spoke about Ademola’s passing. The actress reportedly died in December at the age of 49 after suffering cardiac arrest at her residence.
He revealed that although she had an underlying health condition, her death still came as a shock.
Describing her as health-conscious, he noted that she lived with asthma and always kept her inhaler close.
“It is cardiac arrest, and that could happen to anyone,” he added, saying he believes it was simply her time.
