Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran is willing to end the ongoing conflict with the United States and Israel, but only if certain conditions are met.
In a post shared on X on Wednesday, Pezeshkian explained that one of the key demands is compensation from the United States for the destruction caused during the conflict.
He said Iran’s position was communicated during discussions with leaders of Russia and Pakistan, who he said criticised the actions of the US and Israel.
He wrote:
“Talking to leaders of Russia and Pakistan, I reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to peace in the region. The only way to end this war—ignited by the Zionist regime & US—is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int’l guarantees against future aggression.”

According to reports, Iranian retaliatory attacks have resulted in the deaths of eight American soldiers and at least 12 people in Israel.
At the same time, US and Israeli strikes have reportedly killed Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with more than 160 schoolgirls after a missile hit a school building.
A US military probe later confirmed that the strike on the school was carried out by American forces, according to a report by the The New York Times published on March 11, 2026.
Despite claims by the US that much of Iran’s air force, navy, and missile systems have been destroyed, Iran continues to launch drones and missiles targeting Israeli and American interests in the region.
Iran has also shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage that handles around 20 percent of global oil supply. The move has contributed to rising fuel prices worldwide, including in Nigeria.
The tensions have now extended into sports. Iran’s Sports Minister, Ahmad Donyamali, warned that the country could boycott the 2026 FIFA World Cup because of the conflict.
Speaking to Iranian state television, he declared:
“Considering that this corrupt regime has assassinated our leader, under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup.”
Donyamali said the security situation makes it impossible for the country to take part in the tournament.
“Our children are not safe and, fundamentally, such conditions for participation do not exist,” he said, while also accusing the US and Israel of forcing multiple wars on Iran in recent months that have led to thousands of deaths.
