Residents and businesses in some parts of Lekki, Lagos State, are set to experience a temporary power interruption lasting three days as electricity authorities carry out an upgrade to improve supply reliability.
The notice was issued by Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), which explained that the exercise will involve replacing outdated 11kV panels at the Waterfront Injection Substation located within the Lekki district.
According to the company, the upgrade will require shutting down the substation temporarily from Friday, March 13, to Sunday, March 15, 2026.
During this period, electricity supply will be suspended in several surrounding communities.
EKEDC apologised to customers who will be affected by the outage and asked for understanding while the improvement works are carried out.
The company noted that the upgrade forms part of broader efforts to strengthen electricity distribution and improve the stability of power supply within its network.
In a statement shared on its X page, the company said:
“Please be informed that an equipment upgrade will be carried out at the Waterfront Injection Substation involving the replacement of obsolete 11kV panels with new ones.”
Areas expected to experience the temporary blackout include:
Oriwu, Akinyemi, New Creation/Jide Sawyer, U3 Estate, Remi Olowude, Blue Water, Five Palms, Twin Water, Providence Street, Akanbi Disu, Iron Bar, Babatunde Kuboye, Mike Adegbite, Akwuzu, Omorinre, Johnson, Ladipo, Omotosho, Olori Muyibat, Furo Ezimora, Efunyemi Onanuga, Prof. Akinkunmi Street, and Diamed Medical Center, among others.
EKEDC added that nearby locations may also notice disruptions during the upgrade.
The company assured residents that once the work is completed, customers in the Lekki corridor would experience better and more stable electricity supply.
