An X user identified as @drpenking has sparked fresh controversy online after calling attention to the condition of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi’s football boots during an international match.

The user expressed concern that Ndidi appeared to be wearing old and visibly worn-out boots while representing Nigeria on the global stage, describing the situation as a poor reflection of the country’s football administration.

The post questioned how a nation with an estimated population of over 240 million people could allow its national team captain to appear inadequately kitted in a high-profile match.

Attention was directed at the Nigeria Football Federation, with criticism centred on its responsibility to properly equip players despite receiving substantial funding from both the Federal Government and FIFA.

According to the post, the issue goes beyond footwear, symbolising what was described as neglect and mismanagement within Nigerian football.

The user urged the public to closely examine the image, noting that the condition of Ndidi’s boots was really bad.

He wrote:

Why is Wilfred Ndidi the Super Eagles, captain, wearing old and worn out boots to represent a country of 240 million people in the international stage? Is NFF now very useless that they can’t even provide suitable kits for our National heroes even with the humongous budgetary allocation from FG and FIFA?

Zoom in and see for yourself.”
