Renowned Yoruba Nollywood actor, Babatunde Tayo, popularly known as Baba Tee, has retracted his earlier denial and confessed to having a brief sexual encounter with Dara, the wife of comedian and skit maker, Ganiyu Morufu, also called Ijoba Lande.
The actor made this admission during a live interview with socialite Esabod and other TikTok personalities on Sunday.
This revelation directly contradicted his previous stance, in which he firmly denied any involvement with Dara and even challenged Lande to present evidence or face legal action for defamation. However, his latest confession has stirred reactions, as it aligns with Lande’s earlier claims.
Lande had previously alleged that his wife was involved with multiple men in the entertainment industry, stating that at least 21 men, including Baba Tee, had affairs with her. The comedian had specifically named Baba Tee in a viral interview and an Instagram post, bringing the issue to public attention.
Initially, Baba Tee rejected the allegations, insisting that he only met Dara once, through actress Marygold. He claimed that Marygold introduced Dara as a content creator and an aspiring artiste. He further stated that he was unaware of her true identity until he overheard a conversation between her and Marygold.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Baba Tee has now admitted to the affair. According to him, the encounter happened unexpectedly while he was intoxicated during a game of ‘Truth or Dare’ with Dara and Marygold.
He explained that when Marygold and Dara visited his home, the initial purpose of the visit was for him to discuss hosting an upcoming event for Marygold. He was unaware that Dara would be accompanying her.
During the visit, the conversation took a different turn when the women suggested playing ‘Truth or Dare.’ According to Baba Tee, Marygold got completely undressed and continuously dared Dara while drinking alcohol.
Instead of giving him more ‘Truth’ questions, they pushed him towards engaging in a ‘Dare’ with Dara. He stated that Marygold eventually dared Dara to engage in a quick sexual encounter (doggy) with him, to which she agreed.
Baba Tee insisted that he never knew Dara was Lande’s wife at the time, as Marygold only introduced her as a content creator. He described the situation as a setup designed to tarnish his reputation. “The reason I initially denied it was because I had no idea who she truly was. I now realize that this was a calculated plan against me,” he said.
Following his admission, Esabod advised Baba Tee to formally apologize to Ijoba Lande, emphasizing that his initial denial and subsequent admission could be seen as a betrayal.
In his words:
“When Marygold and Dara came to my house. She (Marygold) claimed that she wanted me to be an MC for an upcoming programme of hers despite not telling me that she was coming with anyone. She introduced Dara as a content creator and not as Lande’s wife. They began to ask if I had a Qatar connection before the ‘Truth or Dare’ game suggestion came up.”
“So immediately we began the game, Marygold went completely naked and was daring me consistently to Dara while she kept taking alcohol as a choice of not wanting to do the tasks that I demanded from her. Rather than throwing more ‘Truth’ to me, they were hurling ‘Dare’ at me.
“Marygold now dared Dara to let me have a ‘quick’ sexual intercourse with her and she (Dara) obliged. So, the reason I said I never slept with Lande’s wife was because Marygold never introduced her as that to me, she called her a content creator. I will not deny that I had a short sexual intercourse with her, it is the first time I am saying it. It is now that I discovered that it was a set-up by both of them to malign my personality.”
Shortly after the interview, Baba Tee took to social media to issue a public apology.
Sharing a picture of Ijoba Lande, Baba Tee wrote on Instagram: “AM DEEPLY SORRY FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART BROTHER. Deep… HOW DARA BECAME LANDE’S WIFE WITHOUT MY MY KNOWLEDGE AIYE MOJUBA OBINRIN..BABATEE.”
Marygold, who was involved in introducing Dara to Baba Tee, is also under scrutiny, as she is alleged to have recorded parts of the encounter.
